Get More For Less
My Dad has a Finn class yacht.
It turned into a restoration project (that's another story!) which we finally had out on the water again this last summer after over 20 years! .
Regardless, the joy of being out on the water on Dad's Finn got me thinking. The wind is free, however how it is used radically changes the outcome. For example, the Finn is a quick boat, but is slow compared with newer yacht types that may utilise foiling, lighter or better materials. Just cast your mind back to the last few editions of the Americas Cup! Those boats are simply phenomenal, but at the heart still use that same resource - the same wind drives them all but there is a massively different results in performance.
If we continue the analogy to construction then boats would be buildings, and wind would be energy. What if we could do more with the same resource, or perhaps even less? Could we get a more comfortable building (not too hot or cold), quieter, healthier (no mould and the right amount of ventilation) with the same amount of electricity to run these higher performing buildings? Simply put, the answer is yes. In fact the amount of electricity used can be lower than for a conventional building! We have the technology!
So why wouldn't we all want more for less?!
This should be the starting point for all new builds and a serious consideration for large renovations. Please get in touch with us if you'd like "more for less"!
